Myths related to facial skin care

Customers across the globe find themselves surrounded by this constant buzz about the latest and the must have facial skin care products, along with this sudden barge of anti aging skin care treatments and tips coming from every corner, which makes it quite difficult for the unsuspecting customers to separate the hype from the real hard facts. This article includes some of the common myths surrounding skin care treatment and provides you with real hard facts about the otherwise commonly held skin care regime and beliefs that most people find themselves stuck with for some reason or the other.

Many people, especially in the western part of the globe, go to tanning booths to get their skins tanned in an unnatural manner. You might already be quite aware of the fact that tanning under the sun is not at all safe these days, and can easily lead to premature ageing as well as skin cancer. However, people do not have much information about how safe tanning booths are and they are often misled by tanning booth companies as they market their products saying that their highly advanced machines filter out all the UV rays. But that is not entirely true as these tanning booths are not completely devoid of UV rays. Even though some of these high tech machines can filter out the UVB rays but you will still pretty much be exposed to UVA rays, and they are as harmful as their counterpart because they can penetrate much deeper into the skin and cause irreparable damage.

The second myth is related to sunscreen products. A majority of people using such products on a regular basis tend to go with the one with higher SPF as they feel that higher SPF provides better protection. However, what they do not know is that SPF actually refers to the level of protection a certain product provides against UVB rays, which lead to sunburns. But it does not offer any sort of protection against UVA and UVC rays. So you need not only look at the SPF level of sunscreen lotions and creams but also make sure that the money you are spending your money on is a broad spectrum one. In this way, you will be able to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun in a much better manner and ensure that your skin does not get damaged to different types of UV rays, be it UVA, UVB or UVC.
