Skin Care Products: Facts and Myths

Although every individual spends his or her money on the purchase of skin care products in Australia these days, but many of them are still not in a position to differentiate between facts and myths due to the prevalence of certain misconceptions which have gone on to become more prevalent and deep rooted than ever before with the passage of time. So through this article, we will try to uncover some of the real facts which remain hidden under the layers of myths that have accumulated over a period of time.

When you are living in a country like Australia, you just cannot do without sunscreen lotions as the effect of UVA and UVB rays can easily take its toll on your skin and cause some irreparable damage as well. UVB rays, for instance, can cause sunburn and can also have a detrimental impact on the DNA of your skin, which in turn can cause photoaging, pigmentation and carcinomas, which happens to be a form of skin cancer. Although it is important to wear sunscreen while exposing your skin to the sun’s rays, the mistake that a lot of people make is to believe that sunscreens with higher SPF provide better protection than the lower ones. SPF is basically the level of protection the skin care product offers to your skin against sun’s harmful rays. So it is important for you to purchase a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 and the one which is broad spectrum.

In case, you tend to believe that you do not need any sort of skin protection on a cloudy day, then again you are making a mistake as the UV rays can easily penetrate through the darkest of clouds quite easily to reach the earth’s surface. So it is important that you do use sunscreen every single day. In fact, you should carry it with you wherever you go and reapply it every two to three hours. You should also wear it while indulging in activities such as surfing and swimming. Also, keep yourself away from the myth that you do not need any sunscreen just because you are wearing a makeup with a certain SPF. Makeup products do not provide much protection to the skin against sun’s harmful rays. So carry sunscreen with you and apply it in two to three hours’ time so as to keep your skin safe and protected from UV rays of the sun.
